Madison has a number of greenway projects underway and near completion.  The goal is to connect the City with various pathways to facilitate alternative modes of transportation and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Open Greenways
Mill Creek Greenway Sign Mill Creek Greenway - Can be accessed via Mill Rd. between the new Millstone subdivision and the new Mill Creek Elementary.  Soon there will also be access from Browns Ferry Rd. at the new Balch Rd. extension. 
The Mill Creek Greenway is managed and maintained by the City of Madison.  To report any problems or concerns pertaining to the trail, please contact Kory Alfred, Director of Parks and Recreation at (256) 772-2553 or email.

Rainbow Mountain Preserve - Located off of Stoneway Trail, 1.5 mile long Loop Trail follows a generally rocky path along the cliff ridge and east side of Rainbow Mountain. It features beautiful rock formations such as Balance Rock, excellent views of Madison to the west, fossils, caves, and a waterfall. Other trails along the Loop Trail include Wild Trail (0.4 miles), JaMooKo Loop Trail (0.9 miles) and Spring Trail.

Indian Creek Greenway

Indian Creek Greenway - Located on the border of Huntsville and Madison.  Can be accessed from Old Madison Pike near the intersection of Slaughter Rd or behind the Creekwood subdivision located just north of the Farrow Rd / Slaughter Rd intersection.
The Indian Creek Creek Greenway is managed and maintained by the City of Huntsville.  To report any problems or concerns pertaining to the Greenway, please contact the City of Huntsville Recreation Department at (256) 564-8026.

Bradford Creek Greenway - Located along 
Bradford Creek, the trail can be accessed via
Palmer Road, where the trailhead begins.  The
route provides scenic views of the creek,
hardwood forests along the bands, wetland
areas supporting fish, wildlife, birds and a varied
assortment of plants.  A pedestrian and
non-motorized corridor will enhance the area. The
Bradford Creek Greenway is managed and
maintained by the City of Madison.  To report any

The Madison Greenway & Trails organization is a nonprofit organization representing the interests of people wanting greater access to walking and hiking trails, bicycle paths, preservation of natural areas and resources, preserving access to historical sites, and planning related to community.
