Even though winter weather can appear to be a peaceful and serene setting, this same weather can cause hazardous and even life-threatening situations. PLEASE PREPARE! Improper indoor use of heat sources such as grills, stoves, and space heaters has become the number one winter danger resulting in house fires and deadly carbon monoxide poisoning. The goal of Madison Fire & Rescue is to assist our citizens in preparing for the hazards of winter weather and with that in mind, provide the following as food for thought. The Madison Fire Department is a progressive organization that provides a variety of services. Services include:
- Fire Suppression
- Emergency Medical Services
- Technical Rescue
- Public Safety Education
- Fire Prevention
- Hazardous Situation Mitigation
These services are delivered to a population of just over 43,000 persons. This Department currently has an ISO rating of three.
The Department consists of seven administrative personnel and 63 shift personnel, who responded to over 3,100 incidents in 2010. The coverage of the Department is approximately 29 square miles.
The mission of Madison Fire & Rescue is to minimize the loss of life and property to the community through our commitment to prevention, preparedness, and effective emergency response.
The membership of Madison Fire & Rescue envisions that we will be widely recognized as an industry leader in the provision of services to our community, as well as the regional partners who request our assistance.
